The Governor of Yobe state, Maimala Buni has expressed displeasure over the manner in which security operatives handle the issue of Boko Haram in the state.
Buni, represented by his deputy, Idi Guban, stated this on Sunday when he visited Babbangida Emirs Palace, where some gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members attacked on Saturday, October 5th 2019.
Buni said The state government has been relentlessly providing all the necessary logistics and support needed by the security agents, yet Babbangida and Buni-Gari remain easy targets for the terrorists.
We cannot always wait for our people to be attacked and then we console them. Hence, there must be proactive measures in place, he added.
He therefore called on all the security agencies to double their efforts on their fight against insurgency in the state.
Buni also sympathized with the Emir, whose part of the palace was burnt down and some valuable items and properties were carted away by the attackers.
In his remarks, Yobe Police Commissioner, Yahaya Abubakar, represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ishaku Muhammed confirmed the incident.
He said that police officers from the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) would sweep the affected areas and routes taken by the attackers to ensure safety of the community.
